Blog Post #4

When asked to write about something that interests me (& hopefully a future employer) I could not contain my excitement. The possibilities are endless to what I could talk to you about. — And then it hit me and I knew exactly what I wanted to write about. The freedom my future job will give me.

As a mainly online student now, I have the freedom to work at my own pace, have hobbies, and work all while getting an education. I hope to one day transfer this into the real world with my job. Companies always want their employees to be happy and accommodate them if possible. My dream and goal is to work for a company such as Amazon, Google, or Facebook. I am working diligently and super focused to achieve this goal. Working as an online security provider or Data Analyst would be a dream come true. For one of the main reasons of – Flexibility.

So many things about the position I am working towards excites me, while fueling my interest for the job. I am continually working towards new ways to learn and adapt to the everyday changing technology. Growing up with a mother who had a demanding job was difficult. Even though she was able to provide everything we needed and more, I would love to do that for my kids while at the same time having the freedom from a job I love.

On a final note, when I was 16 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. While having this disease I have learned so many things about my body. This disease has no rhyme or reason. The freedom and flexibility given with my job would allow me to handle all aspects of my life, future kids life, and job.

  • Professional
  • Hard-working
  • Free spirited
  • Understanding
  • and much more!!

This list above is so much more than a few bullet points. The list is something I strive to be everyday, but especially in my career.

— Professional —

The definition of being professional is stated as “exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace.” Wherever I decide to take my career, if I can be known as a professional I will be proud and content with my profession.

— Hardworking —

Hopefully, my degree will lead me into something within the Information Systems world. With this degree I hope I never forget the value of hard work. I believe you can be well and successful in anything (especially a career) with a little bit of hard work. I never want to forget that a little hard work can go a long way.

— Free Spirited—

A part of my life now, that I plan on taking with me in the Business world is my free-spirit. I want to radiate positivity throughout my job, home, and everyday life. If I can continue to have the same free-spirit that I have now, I believe this would set me apart from others in my same field. This is something I take so much pride in because it is truly a blessing.

—Understanding —

Finally, to be an understanding person is a quality I strive for day-in and day-out. Hopefully, in my career I am in a high position where I am someone’s boss and I am giving that opportunity to be understanding. When others are comfortable within my presence I know I can have those genuine conversations that go deeper than a job.

Professional, Hard-working, Free-spirited and Understanding… wow! What a list of goals. With achieving one of these at a time I know my career will be more than valuable if I can obtain these characteristics. Being involved in each one of these attributes within my career is for sure the kind of Business I want to be involved in for my future.

Business, Business, Business!!!

Today, I am going to be sharing with you my future inside the business world! Sounds exciting right?

To start off, we need to get the basics out there. I am a Junior at Troy University. I am pursuing a degree with Information Systems. I found this passion of mine in High-school and I have had a love for computers ever since. From then on out, I have known this is how I want to spend my college years — and the rest of my life! My dream job would be to Work in Cyber Security or Data Analytics. Working for a large corporation like Amazon, Facebook, or Google would be my final and largest goal. On the path that Troy University is paving for me, I see no reason as to why I cannot accomplish that goal!

First and Foremost, I have always wanted to be a mother. That is one of the reasons I was so drawn to pursuing a degree with Global Business/Information Systems. The flexibility I will be given in the future with this degree is so crazy and amazing!! I love the thought of being able to work from home and make a living while raising and building a family! For most of my life, I grew up with divorced parents. This meant a lot of traveling and late work nights for either and or both parents. While they did an amazing job raising me into the woman I am today, I dream of something a little different for my future munchkins. I understand that working from home is a privilege and by no means a right, which is why I know how hard I am going to have to work to achieve that goal of mine.

My path to the business world will not be easy, but will be so rewarding. Plans include obtaining my Bachelors’ degree from Troy University. After graduation, I want to find a job that is a great starting off point. I want to be able to grow, learn, and make connections through this first job. Whenever the Lord sees fit, I plan to go back to school and obtain my Masters. Probably online somewhere so I can continue to work. Hopefully, with enough time and experience under my belt I will be able to move up or out of that first start off job. I always want to have an open mind and never stop learning. As technologies evolve and I grow older, keeping an open mind is something I will want to have forever.

Finally, as years have passed within my career, retirement will probably be on my mind since my first day of work. Even though I will never be able to truly stop pursuing my dreams, I would love to retire and teach Information Systems or something close as a part-time online professor. I believe I would throughly enjoy that while still be able to live out both dreams of teaching others of what I love AND retirement.
